The World Competes

Nancy Kerrigan has been out of the spotlight for a while, but once again she is in the middle of a drama involving assault. Kerrigan’s father, Daniel, died on Sunday after being assaulted. Her brother, Mark, is being charged with assault in connection with the death. Mark Kerrigan was drunk at the time. Brenda Kerrigan, Nancy’s mother, claims that Daniel Kerrigan died from a heart attack.

Nancy’s previous time in the spotlight after an assault occurred in 1984, when she was assaulted by the husband of another American skater, Tanya Harding, a month before the games. She would go on to win the silver medal.

During his lifetime, Daniel Kerrigan made many sacrifices so that his daughter could skate. He died at age 70.
