Countdown to Vancouver: 8 Days
With only 8 days to go until the 2010 Vancouver Olympics begin, the athletes are starting to arrive at the Olympic village. John Bollwit, who lives in Vancouver, posted some pictures of the Olympic village on his blog. Some of the Americans had been tweeting about going on Tuesday, but many of them are arriving on Friday.
If you are a Biggest Loser Fan, or if you just like short track speed skating, you may want to catch the Biggest Loser on February 9th. Some of the short track speed skaters will be appearing on the show to teach them some tricks (it has already filmed).
Vice president Joe Biden will be attending the Olympics, but President Barack Obama is not scheduled to attend. Some say that he’s just a sore loser over Chicago, but by not attending, it does reduce the security concerns.
I mentioned yesterday that the floating Olympic hotel’s plans had sunk, leaving several Make-A-Wish children in limbo about whether they were going to be able to attend the Olympics or not. Fortunately, an outpouring of offers came from the good people of Vancouver, and the Make-A-Wish lodging problem has been solved. Unfortunately, the other passengers still have to make their own alternate plans with a last-minute notice. Note to self: if you have the chance to go to the 2014 Sochi Olympics, do not book a room at a floating hotel on the Baltic Sea. If you want to take a cruise, take a cruise… before or after the Olympics.
