With all the bad publicity that companies sometimes get, it’s nice to hear about businesses that are doing something good. Proctor and Gamble is helping the moms of Team USA get to Vancouver to watch their children compete in their “Thanks, Mom” campaign.

Behind nearly every Olympic athlete, there’s at least one person that made a sacrifice to get them where they are today. Often, it’s the moms, but sometimes it can be dads, grandparents, or someone else. Five-year-olds don’t get to the ice rink or gym all by themselves, and many of these athletes start before they hit Kindergarten.

As a gymnastics mom, I see parents of kids in higher levels than my daughter is (her and her brother are just starting out), and they have to make sure their kids are at the gym for hours a day, several times a week. On top of that, there are competitions to go to, bills to pay, and homework that has to be done. The better they get, the more time and money has to be invested.

So good for Proctor and Gamble. I would hate to think that a parent wasn’t able to see their child in the Olympics, after putting in all that time and energy to help get their child to the Olympics in the first place.
