women's downhill podium by Eileen http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2010_Winter_Olympic-Womens_downhill_medals.jpg

Now that the Vancouver Olympics are over, what was your favorite Olympic moment? Was it the gold medal hockey game? One of the figure skating performances? Freestyle skiing? The debut of snowboardcross? The half-pipe competition?

I think that my favorite Olympic moment was Lindsey Vonn winning the gold in the downhill race. You could just tell that she was so excited. She worked so hard, yet after bruising her shin, her medal chances seemed slim. This was her third winter Olympics, and she had never won a medal, yet she didn’t have high hopes of trying to become the Michael Phelps of skiing.

I also thought that Hannah Kearney’s win in mogul’s skiing was great too. She was also incredibly excited when she won her medal, especially after her disappointing performance in Torino. Joannie Rochette’s performance was also memorable, considering all that she had to go through that week with the loss of her mother.

The worst moment of the games, in my opinion, was Sven Kramer’s disqualification in the 10,000 meter speedskating event. Initially, I thought that he had made a mistake, but it was his coach that mistakenly told him to get over in the other lane. You have to feel bad for the guy.

What was your favorite Olympic moment from the Vancouver games?
